back to basics

like my kids, i have total shiny ball syndrome. focus is not really my forte, and wait, what was that? my acceptableness to distraction is especially apparent when it comes to fashion. GIMME ALL the patterns, bright colors and stripes. hell, i'll even mix all three. a cotton cocktail if you will. bottoms up!

but as i've gotten older (gasp!), i have come to rely on basics to complete my wardrobe, resulting in more options and less shopping overall, which is a good thing i guess? so that all said, my basics still aren't all THAT basic. but hey, gotta start somewhere. and why not make a photo story out of all this? photos of a not-so-basic-mabae (get it? mama bae? ok yea forget it. mabae is never gonna happen) in and around one of this blog's go-to-places, grand central market?

and i know what you're thinking. OF COURSE I GOT THE FALAFEL.

boba tea is not really my cup of tea (ha!) but BOB A tea? well... and am i the only one that finds this sign adorable? i am making it my weekly mission to go back every week and peep the signage.

right. back to basics.

this is a pretty basic outfit for me without being totally boring. the crew neck black top is a bodysuit that works great with high wasted jeans. i know. bodysuit? sounds like a big pain in the crotch. but NOPE. just trust me. cuz any more deets would be teetering on some serious TMI. so yea, paired with simple flats and a fun bag, well, i felt pretty chic! a cool neckerchief would have gone well, too. dangit.

BUT FOR SERIOUS. JUST TRUST ME GIRLS. BODYSUITS. SOMEHOW NOT LIKE A THONG. MAGIC.

moral of the post: i will always love my bold statement pieces, but sometimes it's ok to switch things up and go basic. basic but NEVER boring. never ever. find your best go-to and always feel like your best self. because that is what fashion is REALLY about.

basically.
