poppy fields

poppies:

a herbaceous plant with showy flowers, milk sap and rounded seed capsules. many poppies contain alkaloids and are a source of drugs such as morphine and codeine. poppies have been used a symbol of sleep, peace and death.

i swear i am not making this up.

the biggest truth about the poppies is the 1.5 hour journey it takes to get there from WEHO. and this is with zero traffic. the drive is soooo boring but worth it because just look at this beautiful floral bounty! took my breath away.

the poppy reserve was closed duh thankyouverymuchcovid19. but no matter. we just parked on the side of the road. after days of going pretty much nowhere we really could not be more excited to be SOMEWHERE. max immediately bolted up the firey hill.

knox showed the same enthusiasm with a side of resentment for the cardio involved.

once he hit flat land he soared.

isn’t it just gorgeous? i also read the red poppy is a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, which i found very comforting and true. the boys kept saying it was the best day ever. and josh and i found a bit of hope for our future and the ability to continue to make beautiful memories.

so. here’s hoping.
