a play date

image.jpg

they day started off business as usual. we prepped the boys for their day. after we said goodbye and made sure to hug their little friends (i can't help it. little kids give the best hugs) we ran some errands, target + trader joe's, which is like a million trillion times more easy when you are with a rational adult. i can read the labels on the back of food containers. browse isles. roam off and say, hey meet me in bedding. you know, normal stuff you take for granted. it was kind of sad how much we enjoyed it. but it was real nice holding hands and leaning my head on his shoulder... we didn't have to share each other with anyone else.

after that and a bit of cleaning the homestead, it was seriously time to chill. we hit up le patio for a romantic brunch.

on le menu: his + hers arrogant bastard ales and cheetos. kuz we klassy.

post porch munchies and, yet again, more errands, we went to one of our favorite neighborhood watering holes, the village idiot. have you guys ever been? it's a great modern take on a british pub that only sometimes gets too douchy for my taste buds. we mainly went for the beer (they always have a great selection), and the food, which was showing off for us it was so good. after the usual back and forth discussion over the menu (fries or pot pie but not both, geez josh ) we settled on four oysters for him and veggie pot pie and brussel sprouts to split. we talked and laughed, and tried not to look at the time as the sun went down. it was the perfect end to our play date. and by the end i was just the right amount of buzzed to be extra happy + playful with the boys. yup. mother of the year right here :->
