a saturday in space

well sort of.

it was more like we got to hang out and play with a bunch of stuff that actually had gone to space. and for two little boys, that's just as good. they both have been super duper obsessed with planes and flight in general. at least that's what i infer from all of the jumping off their lego table and couch (UGH), coupled with an unyielding love for buzz lightyear. max even has a backpack he likes to put on and then pretends it can make him fly.

yea. it's freaking adorable.

so naturally, we thought it was the perfect time to visit the california science center and check out the journey to space exhibit. and because we also could have been the last family in the LA to see the endeavor. seriously. slacking.

the best part about this museum, and many others we have explored, is how hands-on they are designed to be. look here! max got wings!

image.jpg

knox couldn't participate in everything. he's still a bit too little to appreciate everything. we took a lot of photos like this. and how much do we look alike here?!

image.jpg

max could not get enough.

image.jpg

over the moon you could say...

image.jpg

and ironically not all that impressed touring the inside of a spacecraft. go figure. probably because he couldn't touch anything. give a kid some buttons to push i say!

image.jpg

GIMME BUTTONS!!

image.jpg

now we're talking.

image.jpg

this robotic arm was pretty rad. IT HAD A BUTTON. when pressed with your arm inside, you could feel the pressure as it is on earth and then how it feels in space. we spent a lot of time here!

staring off into space...

image.jpg

and omg. this was the best. two of my favorite photos. ever.

image.jpg

and finally. the endeavor!

image.jpg
image.jpg

so massive. i felt so tiny. and getting to see this incredible vessel so close up was pretty amazing. i would avoid the gift shop though at all costs!

after the endeavor, we had a picnic in the exposition rose garden, located just outside of the space center and adjacent to the natural history museum. it is beautiful. but keeping the boys out of the flower beds was rough. BOYS.

and then it was time to go... to infinity and beyond! or bath time. you chose.

the end!
